FRONT ROOM, Totterdown Art Trail – a wonderful opportunity to view, interact with, discuss and buy art.  Established in 2001 by a group of local artists, Totterdown’s FRONT ROOM Art Trail has grown steadily year on year, now attracting nearly 200 artists, 60 venues and over 4000 visitors.

Totterdown is a vibrant and colourful community, home to many artists, professional and amateur, working across a variety of media. Each November we come together to celebrate art in all its forms, and we extend a very warm welcome to you.  The weekend is a great opportunity to purchase some fantastic original artwork whilst enjoying the mellow ambience that has drawn artists to settle in the area over the past few years.

We invite you to visit artists in their own homes (hence the ‘FRONT ROOM’ moniker), a wide variety of venues will be hosting all sorts of entertainment.  Navigable by maps available at all venues there is fine art, poetry, pottery, sculpture, photography, installations, workshops, music, performance art, something for everyone to enjoy!

And don’t forget to keep an eye out for the unusual and truly strange artistic happenings that will feature in our streets throughout the weekend!

Please feel free to feed back to us with new ideas and comments on this year’s trail via the Contact pages on our website.

If you really want to have a look at the nuts and bolts of FRONT ROOM,  our Constitution is available for download.

If at any time this feels a bit too complicated then you can get hands on help at Fig.1 (contact details), you can pop in with images of your artwork to get them scanned in and uploaded or simply to ask them to help you navigate the online registration process

step one; register at website

Go to the FRONT ROOM's Registration page to start sign up. All parts of the registration process have a comprehensive help system so if you are unsure at any time click on the appropriate question in the form or at the bottom of the page and the answer should appear

Wait for confirmation e-mail and go to stage 2; Fill in your registration details (address, contact details etc), this becomes your Profile, so we can contact you as a member of FRONT ROOM

Now you can login to the members area of the website using the registration details you have provided (username and password) and can fill out your Artist Info/biography (whichever you wish to call it), this will be what appears on the web and on the map/publicity under your listing inclusive of any images you upload. You shall also receive updates via e-mail of all things important for Front Room

step 2; find a venue

On the left hand side of the web on the main menu bar (after login)  will be a link to the house venue listing ' 2008 Venues',  follow this link and all houses or venues and their contact details will be available for you to trawl through. It is up to you to approach venue owners with a link to your work (your own website or your profile on FRONT ROOM website) and possibly a bribe of biccies and tea making services for the weekend. The venue owner will then register you at their venue if they think you will fit in to their space

step 3; pay registration fee

This is £15 for each artist and can be paid in at 'drop off points' within Totterdown, the next payment date will be sent to all registered artists on the website and published in the news section. Cheques are payable to 'Totterdown Art Trail'

That's it, after all that you only have to produce the work, arrive on time and have fun
